Each month at CMCBP, we really enjoy the calendars from ‘Action for Happiness’ and have been sharing them for a long time with our family, friends and network. Each month there is a different theme and for June is it ‘Joyful June’. How does this feel for you? Are you ready to think about some Joy? These calendars provide a nice daily nudge for some conscious awareness of each month’s theme. We recommend you print one out and put it either in your kitchen, office or shared workspace and allow it to create some joyful conversations. Do share your thoughts on this with us on our Facebook page – we would love to share some joyful moments with our community.
From a psychological perspective, joy and happiness are very different concepts. Unlike happiness, joy is internal – it is not dependent on a person or a situation. Joy comes when you make peace with who you are, where you are, why you are, and who you are not with – and for this reason, it is more beneficial to aim for than happiness. Psychological research has shown support for ways in which joy can be felt. These include meditation, minimising your use of social media and keeping a journal to practise gratitude. Mindfulness has also shown to provide psychological benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety. Joy manifests when people are in touch with their true selves and no longer feel the need to seek happiness from external people or experiences.
Our challenge to you is to work on finding inner joy throughout Joyful June and share this calendar with your peers to spread love and positivity.
