Not feeling great? You could be languishing…..“Languishing is a sense of stagnation and emptiness. It feels as if you’re muddling through your days, looking at your life through a foggy windshield. And it might be the dominant emotion of 2021.”
This article titled ‘ There’s a Name for the Blah You’re Feeling: It’s Called Languishing ‘ by psychologist Adam Grant explains how many are feeling a bit aimless in current times and is worth a read. Part of the challenge is that we might not recognise it in ourselves, so this article might help with a bit of reflection to recognise that we are not functioning at the capacity we were before the pandemic. As Grant says, even if you are not languishing, many around you may be so understanding this feeling may enable you to help others.
Some good tips for building ourselves back up from this aimless feeling include
- Give yourself some uninterrupted time
- Focus on a small goal
